More About Me

I first came to the San Juan Islands to lead sailing trips at a summer camp in the 1990s. I knew from the moment I set foot on this beautiful rock that I wanted to call the Pacific Northwest home. I’ve been a Washington resident for over two decades now, with some time abroad, mostly in Latin America. In recent years, it’s been a joy to hang up my expat shoes and become a full-time Lopezian, enjoying the woods, the water, the pure air, and the quiet. A home on the island has been a refuge for me and my girls, who have thrived in this wild and wonderful place and community.

As an historian with a background in tourism development, questions of sustainability, infrastructure, and the long-term management of the islands inform my perspective on our rapidly changing real estate market. I also keep a finger on the pulse of our county's politics, especially with respect to issues that affect real estate, whether that is regulations concerning vacation rentals, tiny homes and ADUS, or changes to our shoreline management plan.

For buyer clients, I dig deep into the details. Thorough research of a property's details, environs, and potential for different uses and long-term value are a key part of my service. I also bring a vetted network of island tradespeople, vendors, and experts to help my clients make informed decisions about investing in the islands. Finally, as someone who experienced many transitions around the world before I came to reside here in the islands, I enjoy helping my clients understand the logistics of island living if they are newcomers.

Marketing properties today requires employing a wide-ranging strategy to reach the right audience. In addition to offering the full suite of Windermere's tools, I create custom campaigns for my seller clients' properties using print media, direct mail, online marketing, and social media channels to reach qualified buyers. Finally, I leverage personal and professional networks on both the east and west coasts and internationally to maximize your listing's exposure in viable markets.
